Unique expertise has been accumulated over more than 25 years in human genomics, systems biology and signaling pathways by Pharnext's founders (Professor D. Cohen, Dr I Chumakov and Dr S. Nabirotchkin). Pharnext has set up a statistical department with an outstanding expertise in genomics.

Nexus is an integrated, proprietary drug discovery platform. It is a stepwise methodological approach that runs from disease data analysis to drug candidate generation.

• Step 1 - Integration of genomics / biostatistics / biology / pharmacology and IP analysis with progression "from genes to biological complexity".
• Step 2 - Reconstitution of the disease-associated complex biological network, with a comprehensive pathway image.
• Step 3 - Identification of pertinent drug targets for restoring the overall state of the network.
• Step 4 - Generation of a list of drug candidates capable of regulating targets identified in step 3; the chosen drugs will already have been approved in other indications than the one studied and are known to be safe.
• Step 5 - Biomarker candidates identification.
